$4 Million Worth of Cocaine off the Streets

Local News

A routine traffic stop leads the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office to more than $4 million of cocaine. 33 year old Esteban Salinas Jr. from Brownsville and 22 year old Alexander Salinas of Miami, Florida were stopped in a silver pickup truck on Monday. A K-9 unit sniffed out the drug bundles. The investigation led up to the suspect’s home, where they found 53 kilos of cocaine and bundles of cash.

Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio said, “This office did a fantastic job at continually working day and night. I want to congratulate them again. We took all this cocaine out of the market. It is just a small portion I know, but we continue working with other law enforcement agencies.”

The suspects were arrested. Sheriff Lucio claims there were indications the drugs were headed to Miami.
