1964 Camille Playhouse struggles staying afloat as funding runs low

Local News

BROWNSVILLE — The future of a historical Brownsville community theater may be on the edge as funding runs low, with only less than a month of funding left.

Brownsville has been home to the Camille Playhouse since 1964 but that could change if funding runs out said Board Member Roy de Los Santos.

“A lot of people never make it out of Brownsville never get to venture out during their youth much less in their adulthood. They might miss out in this type of culture if we did not have this to provide in Brownsville if Camille Playhouse didn’t exist,” said De Los Santos.

The Camille Playhouse committee will be setting up a GoFundMe page over the weekend,
accepting donations to keep the theater from completely shutting.
