Local campaign helping the Valley recover

RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas (KVEO) — As the Valley recovers from the impact of Hurricane Hanna, one local campaign is collecting funds to help communities bounce back.

RGV Mutual Aid is meant to help Valley residents recover from Hanna financially.

Organizers are collecting donations and distributing them to communities to help them bounce back.

Officials said the campaign started as a result of federal funds that the Valley lacks.

“We are just a group of organizers and community members who really care about this region and know that our government often forgets about us down here and we have seen a little bit of that with the lack of resources that Greg Abbott sent down here initially. So, we are just really trying to help community members with any immediate financial assistance that they may need,” said Natalie Marquez of the RGV Mutual Aid fund.
