Largest beach bar owner calls on city to suspend mass parties amid coronavirus concerns

SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas – Clayton Brashear released this statement in response to County Judge Eddie Treviño’s press conference this week.

In the statement Brashear urged South Padre Island to immediately suspend Spring Break mass gatherings of 500 or more people for the next ten days to evaluate the possible effects the events may have in spreading COVID-19 to Cameron County families.

South Padre Island officials tell Local 23, it is the responsibility of venues and promoters to self-suspend, delay or cancel large events.
