Kops for Kids

MISSION, Texas – Friday, hundreds of Mission children and families were treated to a little early Christmas celebration and it’s all part of an annual tradition.

Even Santa made a stop this afternoon as Mission Crime Stoppers and Mission Police Department hosted their annual Kops for Kids celebration.

The event had to be moved indoors because of the rain, but that didn’t put a damper on the fun.

More than 350 families pre-registered for the toy giveaway event.

Police Chief Robert Dominguez says the entire Mission community really comes together to make sure that every year Kops for Kids is a big success.

“Anytime that you give a gift to these kids and you see that smiling face, that’s what it’s all about and I think that, like anything, as public servants that what we are here for, to give back to our community. I know that our community supports us throughout the year, and this is just another way that our department here at the Mission Police Department does these events to take care of the citizens and our community,” said Mission Police Chief Robert Dominguez.

In addition to toys, those in attendance enjoyed music, food, entertainment and some games for the children and their families to enjoy.
