BROWNSVILLE, Texas (KVEO) — The spirit of Tejano artist Jimmy González lives on as his family comes together to give back to those in the front lines.

“We’re going to donate some chicken plates,” said Henry González, son of the Grupo Mazz lead singer.

“He would always dedicate performances on their behalf because of what they’ve done not only our city but for our nation. So, we’re out here and we figured we’d do this for our dad and continue the inspiration that he gave us to do something like this,” González added.

They’re warm meals they wanted to give back to nurses and they got right to work.

“We’re preparing between 75 to 80,” Mike González explained.

While apart from one another they’re making sure each plate is homemade with love

“I’m actually cooking chicken right now, look,” James González said through a Facetime call.

It’s a gesture of gratitude to our hero’s in the front line.

The González family said after seeing the impact the pandemic has had in the community they wanted to make sure they did their part to help out.
