LOS FRESNOS, Texas – Multiple cities in the Rio Grande Valley are participating in a challenge that empowers their community to lead healthier lives.
Its Time Texas Community Challenge is an eight-week competition to bring organizations, schools, and members of the community together.
The goal of the challenge is to improve the health of yourself and the community.
Los Fresnos is one of the cities taking part in the challenge. They ranked 1st place last year, but the Los Fresnos City Manager says it’s not about the prizes, it’s about bettering one’s health.
“One of the problems is we make New Year’s Resolutions and after about 3 days or 2 weeks, it’s gone. What we wish is for people to change habits and they become healthy,” said Mark Milum, Los Fresnos City Manager.
If you made a New Year’s resolution to be more active and healthier, this is your chance.
You can still register for the challenge at itstimetexas.org and join your community to kick start your journey.
This year’s challenge ends on March 1st.
