Hundreds of animals in danger of being euthanized

EDINBURG, Texas – Hundreds of animals from a local animal shelter are at risk of being euthanized.

Palm Valley Animal Center officials say the shelter has been taking in around 500 animals a week. They are expecting to continue receiving a high volume of pets in the upcoming months. In order to promote live outcomes, adoption fees are being waved indefinitely and today (Sept. 30) only, the $25 spay and neuter surgery deposit is also being waved.

Stephanie Baggett, Palm Valley Adoptions Supervisor, “These fees are waved to encourage all of these animals to get out. Animal lovers to come and adopt, foster, rescue animals just like this baby right here that are in this shelter environment scared, needing a live outcome. We really need people to come forward who are animal lovers to help get these animals adopted.”

The shelter is open 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday and until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.
