Authorities have arrested a suspect in the shooting investigation involving an 18-year-old victim.
The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jonathan Mugia Salinas, 17.
Mugia-Salinas has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Officials add that robbery has now been eliminated as a possible motive.
HCSO says the investigation is ongoing. The 18-year-old girl remains in the hospital.

HIDALGO COUNTY, Texas (KVEO) — The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) is searching for two suspects of a shooting that left an 18-year-old in critical condition.
Sheriff Eddie Guerra states officials responded to a robbery call at the 4500 block of Phyliss Street located south of Iowa on Cesar Chavez on June 22.
An 18-year-old woman was shot and transported to a local hospital. The HCSO informed the victim has undergone surgery and remains in critical condition.
The HCSO is looking for two armed men in connection to the shooting.
