EDINBURG, Texas – The Texas Workforce Commission in partnership with DHR Health have awarded more than a million dollars in funding to South Texas College.
The Skills Development Fund Grant will provide customized health care training for 4,000 new and existing employees of Doctors Hospital at Renaissance and allow them to develop skills and further their careers.
In addition to the million dollar grant a self sufficiency fund grand was also awarded to South Texas College for $140,000 to provide training in high demand occupations such as welding and phlebotomy for students on
government assistance.
Paul Rodriguez, STC Board Chairman, “We’re very proud that these funds are going to enable us to work with our partners like DHR and provide additional training for all types of students. To improve their quality and income generation of our local citizens.”
Representatives of STC say collaborative efforts and partnerships with organizations like DHR and the Texas Workforce Commission are valued and are vital in administering and implementing grants.
