HARLINGEN, Texas – This month the Harlingen Public Library is giving patrons a chance to erase late book fines and help the local homeless shelter/food pantry at the same time.
The Food for Fines Drive allows library users to substitute one can of food for each dollar they owe in late fees not to exceed $10.
The drive runs from November 1-24 and all donations will go to Loaves and Fishes. Only non-perishable items are accepted, no glass containers, repackaged, or expired food will be accepted.
This program does not include fees incurred due to lost or damaged items.
