Harlingen accepting applications for small business loans under HELP project


HARLINGEN, Texas – According to a press release, the Harlingen Economic Development Corporation has announced that they are accepting applications for Harlingen’s Emergency Loan Program (HELP) for small business.

Officials said HELP is Harlingen’s response to the economic impact small businesses were experiencing during COVID-19. $1,000,000 has been set aside to pay out these loans and a max of $10,000 can be given to each recipient.

According to the release these emergency loans will be available at zero percent interest and the repayment will begin one year after the money is released.

The release states that the loan program began accepting applications on May 1st. The first round, of potentially five rounds, of recipients could be notified as soon as Friday, May 15.
