Figueroa to defend boxing title in the Rio Grande Valley


EDINBURG, Texas — Weslaco native Brandon Figueroa is preparing to defend his interim WBA Super Bantamweight title against Javier Chacon of Argentina. The 12-round main event match will take place at the Bert Ogden arena on August 24th. The 22-year-old Figueroa competes in the 122-pound division and has a six-fight knockout streak.

He says he is hard at work preparing for the fight and that he is thankful for all his supporters.

“I want to thank God, Team Figueroa, for always supporting me. My fans that are super loyal and crazy from the Valley. I can’t wait to give them a show that they deserve.”
