Family of inmate allegedly killed by another inmate hires attorney

News

BROWNSVILLE, Texas — The family of a man beaten to death at the Cameron Carrizales-Rucker Detention Center is seeking legal counsel against the county.

Attorney Eddie Lucio is putting the county on notice and is requesting that Cameron County preserve evidence, including videos and testimony while they investigate. Once evidence is collected, if the family believes something went wrong, a lawsuit will be filed.

41-year-old Carlos Estrada died at a hospital last week after 29-year-old Joshua James Sosa allegedly attacked and beat him on July 1.
