ELSA, Texas – The Elsa Police Department urges the public to take appropriate precautions when discarding disposable gloves.
Authorities are finding more and more of these gloves on the ground. They say when people are done using them they throw them on the ground.
On certain surfaces the coronavirus can live for 24 hours and on some plastics from about two to three days.
The gloves are mostly discarded outside of businesses such as grocery stores and gas stations. The department says throwing the used gloves on the ground is littering and a potential safety hazard.
To avoid a fine and to help stop the spread of COVID-19, the department says to carry a Ziploc bag to discard the used gloves and simply throw them away into a garbage can.
