Elsa man to serve 25 years in prison for sexual abuse of two children

EDINBURG, Texas – 46-year-old Arnoldo Reyes was sentenced to 25 years in the Institutional Division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child (1st degree felony) and 20 years for Sexual Assault of a Child (2nd degree felony). The sentences will run concurrently.

Reyes was arrested on January 10, 2019 by the Elsa Police Department. The victims were ages 6 and 15 at the time of the assaults. The case was prosecuted by Special Crimes Division Chief Hope Palacios.

“Bringing justice to victims of child abuse is a top priority for our office,” said Criminal District Attorney Ricardo Rodriguez.  “I commend Assistant District Attorney Hope Palacios as well as the police officers, investigators, victim advocates, and prosecutors who worked on the case.”

Reyes’ sentencing was handed down on August 19, 2019 by 430th District Court Judge Israel Ramon Jr.
