Edinburg Police searching for deadly stabbing suspect

EDINBURG, Texas – Edinburg Police are still searching for a suspect in a fatal stabbing at an apartment complex on New Year’s Day.

Authorities are on the lookout for a silver Chrysler 300 with Texas plates MPN1630.

The incident happened around 7:30 AM. at the Lantana Apartments in the 1200 block of North First Avenue.

When authorities arrived, they found a man with multiple stab wounds and the suspect had fled the scene.

The victim, who has not yet been identified, was taken to a local hospital where he died.

“Right now, we don’t have any reason to believe there is an imminent danger to the public and we are on the search for the suspect. We do have some leads that we are investigating,” said Sarah Rodriguez, a Public Information Officer with the Edinburg Police Department.
