ESCOBARES, Texas – According to a press release, Border Patrol apprehended two Mexican nationals, one of whom tested positive for COVID-19.
On Friday, May 8, Rio Grande City Border Patrol agents in Escobares Texas captured two Mexican nationals as part of a drug smuggling case, said the release.
Officials said one of the nationals complained of migraines and was transported to a local hospital where he tested positive for COVID-19, the other national was asymptomatic and returned to Mexico.
According to the release, this is the second individual in CBP custody to test positive for COVID-19, and the first individual to test positive that was captured in Texas.
200 .50 caliber rounds were also seized and turned over to the ATF, said the release.
Border Patrol officials said that they are following CDC guidelines and anyone who came in contact with the infected national will be taking extra precautions.
