Domestic Violence Awareness Walk in Edinburg

EDINBURG, Texas – October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The Edinburg Police Department will be hosting an event next week which aims to provide awareness to domestic violence. This morning the Edinburg Police Department announced the Domestic Violence Awareness Walk. The event will take place Wednesday evening, October 16th from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm.

The department is partnering with several local organizations including Mujeres Unidas, the Child Advocacy Center, Easter Seals and the Edinburg Fire Department. Those who attend will participate in a walk from the Edinburg Police station to the county courthouse.

Sarah Rodriguez, Edinburg PD PIO, “All of our representative here are going to be there to give information. To share information with you and to bring awareness so that we can hopefully assist the families that are affected by this.”

Officials say the organizations attending the walk are aiming to provide a united front in bringing awareness to domestic violence to everyone in the community. Something that affects both women as well as men.
