District Attorney Holds Expo for PTSD Awareness Month


The Cameron County District Attorney’s Office teaming up with Palms Behavioral Health and Sunrise Mall to bring awareness to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

The Expo, part of PTSD Awareness Month, features various agencies from across the County that offer resources and services for diagnosing and treating the mental illness.

In addition, two local experts provided education to the general public on the illness.

PTSD is a term that identifies with people who experienced a serious physical event that was traumatic to their mental health. 

No one is immune to developing PTSD, however, veterans of war and victims of crime are highly vulnerable. 

Crimes in which PTSD are more likely to occur include sexual assault, assault, attempted murder, and traffic collisions.
