Tuesday will be hot with highs of 100 degrees in the mid valley and near 105 in the upper valley. The heat index, what it feels like, will be near 115 degrees. The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for Hidalgo and Starr counties and a heat advisory for Cameron and Willacy counties for Tuesday until 6pm.
Be sure to take frequent breaks if you are working outdoors, drink lots of water, and check on the elderly. Also, be sure pets have access to fresh water and shade.
Wednesday will be less hot with a few sea breeze showers rolling inland in the afternoon and with highs in the mid 90’s while a weak cold front will slips south and stalls along the Rio Grande early Thursday keeping a decent risk for showers in the forecast through the day.
