EDINBURG, Texas – Two murder suspects have been arraigned this afternoon in connection to a missing person investigation that took place on Thursday.
The body was found in a rural area in Edinburg after the victim’s mother received an anonymous call.
23-year-old Fernando Garza was reported missing Thursday. That search ended Saturday morning after Hidalgo County Sheriff Deputies found Garza’s body with gunshot wounds.
“The family advised us that they had received an anonymous call that the body had been dumped somewhere in this area,” says Hidalgo County Sheriff Eddie Guerra.
Garza’s body was found in an orchard near Iowa Road and Mile 13. According to Hidalgo County Sheriff, Eddie Guerra, the mother received a call from his friends stating Garza had been possibly kidnapped.
On Friday, investigators found Garza’s car abandoned.
“We recovered an abandoned vehicle that was burned, and we identified that vehicle, a 2006 Dodge Durango, as the vehicle belonging to our victim,” says Sheriff Eddie Guerra
This afternoon, 25-year-old Julio César Deleón, and 28-year-old Edna Rivera were charged with capital murder by terroristic threat.
Investigators say Garza had been living with the couple prior to this death, the motive of this homicide is believed to be a drug robbery.
Both are being held in county jail without bond.
Authorities are still searching for two to three additional suspects involved in the homicide.
