Community forms caravan to commemorate Vanessa Guillen

WESLACO, Texas (KVEO) — Saturday, members of the community gathered in Weslaco to commemorate Fort Hood Soldier Vanessa Guillen.

A caravan met at the Academy parking lot and made their way to the corner stop store where a memorial of Guillen has become a spot for many to gather and remember the soldier.

Participants said it is important to come together as they demand justice for Guillen.

“When it comes to something [like this], we are all in this together and make it to be family wise,” said a participant.

This week, Guillen’s family met with President Trump and demanded a congressional investigation be conducted.

The president said the FBI as well as the DOJ are now involved in the investigation into Guillen’s death.
