City of Mercedes requiring residents to wear masks

MERCEDES, Texas – Mayor Henry Hinojosa announced that residents will be required to shelter in place beginning Sunday at midnight.

Originally the stay at home order, which was issued on April 3rd, was set to take effect on April 10th, according to the order.

Now, Mercedes Mayor Henry Hinojosa has amended the emergency order to take effect on April 5, 2020, until April 12, 2020.

According to the release, the City of Mercedes is now requiring anyone over the age of 3 to wear some type of material over their mouth, medical-grade masks are not required.
