MCALLEN, Texas – It’s official, the city of McAllen is a community with minimal litter. It’s all part of the Keep McAllen Beautiful initiative.
The organization conducting its annual Community Appearance Index scoring the best rating possible. The index is a tool designed to visually assess the overall appearance of the community. Since the beginning of the year the organization, with the help of volunteers, has collected more than 4-tons of trash through litter cleanups.
Chris Lash, Director – Keep McAllen Beautiful, “Where businesses or even families can adopt a park and they agree to do liter cleanup. Either monthly or even some of them do it a couple of times a month and it’s great because it really helps our community.”
Organizers with Keep McAllen Beautiful say they also want to remind residents to keep the community litter free, including cleaning up after your pets.
