EDINBURG, Texas – On Friday, CBP Officers from the Brownsville Port of Entry donated nearly $4,000 to a local charity.
Los Vaqueros from Brownsville was the winning team of Border Patrol’s ninth annual Combined Federal Campaign Chili Cook-Off.

The team, composed of officers from CBP’s Office of Field Operations, donated their winnings to the RGV Make a Wish Foundation.
They chose to donate to RGV Make a Wish Foundation because it is an organization that helps bring much-needed joy to many children and their families.
“We find it truly astounding that the reach of CFC goes beyond helping an unknown entity; it is personal, helping our neighbors and organizations within our very own community. We are all extremely excited to have finally won the Chili Cook-Off and most of all, very excited to present the donation to RGV Make a Wish Foundation,” said Vaquero team member Randall Trevino.
RGV Sector Acting Chief Patrol Agent Austin Skero and Brownsville Port Director Tater Ortiz presented the donation to Ava Sandlin, President and CEO of the RGV Make a Wish Foundation.
