CBP arrest 16 in three separate smuggling attempts

EDINBURG, Texas – Over the weekend CBP agents arrested 16 undocumented immigrants as part of three human smuggling attempts.

Friday, Brownsville agents received a tip of a red sedan picking up undocumented immigrants near the Rio Grande. Once an agent approached the vehicle fled and pulled off the road where several subjects exited before the vehicle sped off again.

Agents were able to locate the red sedan and two undocumented immigrants.

That same day Rio Grande Valley Agents near San Manuel on Highway 281 attempted to stop a white Ford F-150 to conduct an immigration inspection.

Before the agents could conduct the stop, the driver pulled over and several subjects fled the vehicle before the vehicle sped off. The agents arrested seven undocumented immigrants.

Sunday, agents were able to arrest seven undocumented immigrants in a failed smuggling attempt.
