Cameron County extending no refusal program

CAMERON COUNTY, Texas – Cameron County is expanding its DWI No Refusal Program. The announcement was made in a press conference Monday morning.

District Attorney Luis Saenz said it is meant to decrease drunk driving accidents and deaths.

The program allows law enforcement to obtain a warrant from a judge for a blood alcohol test if a person is suspected of DWI.

“We knew that something had to be done to take the message out to the public that Cameron County is very serious about DWI offenders,” said District Attorney Luis Saenz.

This marks the fifth year the No Refusal Program has been in effect.

County officials believe the program has helped save dozens of lives.
