Cameron County confirms second community transmitted COVID-19 case


CAMERON COUNTY, Texas – Cameron county has confirmed seven additional cases of COVID-19, which includes a 43-year-old male from Brownsville who has no reported travel history or exposure to another COVID-19 case.

This is the second instance of a community transmitted COVID-19 case in Cameron County.

Of the other cases, four are from Brownsville (38-year-old female, 31-year-old male, 21-year-old male, and 53-year-old male), one is from San Benito (50-year-old female), and one is from Los Fresnos (62-year-old male). These cases are travel related.

This brings the total confirmed cases in Cameron County to 20.

Cameron County Health officials are conducting epidemiological investigations to identify any other individuals who may have been exposed and testing the individuals showing signs and symptoms.
