Cameron County: 9 COVID-19 cases cleared

Cameron County Eddie Treviño gave on update on the status of the county during a press conference held Thursday.

According to Judge Treviño there are now 46 cases in Cameron County, nine new cases were announced at the conference.

Out of the nine cases, seven are connected to the cases previously confirmed at an adult day care in Harlingen.

According to Treviño, they include five employees, one patient and a family of an employee.

Treviño added that nine cases in Cameron County have been cleared from quarantine.

During the conference, it was also mentioned that the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office has made 235 stops and given 27 citations.

“That shows that our law enforcement, officers are utilizing good common sense and their discretion, to make sure that people are abiding by the [order].”

Treviño reassured that if individuals have a reason to be out on the road, it should be okay.

He also advised to limit the amount of family members that go on those trips.

We are still at the beginning of this, but i think that [with] out efforts…we will see a drop. But we are not there yet.
