BROWNSVILLE, Texas – The city of Brownsville is finding new ways to improve their parks through community workshops. Participants shared their concerns about issues affecting the community from social to health issues. This engagement workshop was organized to fix these problems.
The City Parks Alliance is promoting health initiatives throughout parks in Brownsville.
Damaris McGlone, Parks & Recreation Director, “We are working always on things to reduce obesity and diabetes. Using our collaborations throughout the city and the county to work on providing that infrastructure whether that’s through trails or exercise stations.”
The goal for engagement workshops like these is to connect people and solve community problems.
