Border Patrol arrest sex offenders and gang members

EDINBURG, Texas – Border Patrol agents continue to arrest sex offenders and gang members attempting to evade law enforcement.

On July 18, Rio Grande City agents working near Roma, Texas, arrested a Salvadoran national who admitted to agents is a Mara Salvatrucha gang member.

That following afternoon, Rio Grande City agents working near Roma, Texas, arrested a Salvadoran national after he entered the United States illegally. During processing, record checks revealed a previous arrest by the Baltimore County, Maryland Police Department and charged with a third degree sex offense of a minor. The presiding judge sentenced him to three years confinement and suspended his sentence.

On Sunday, Corpus Christi agents working near Robstown, Texas arrested a Mexican national whose record checks revealed a prior arrest in the state of Illinois. The De Kalb Police Department arrested the man for sexual assault and battery with a child under the age of five. The man received a sentence of 180 days confinement with 48 months’ probation.
