EDINBURG, Texas (Border Report) — U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) Sector report that they recently encountered three large groups of migrants totaling 378 people who turned themselves over to agents, a Customs and Border Protection news release said.
On Friday, McAllen agents working near Granjeno, Texas, took into custody a large group of 102 men, women and children migrants who had been walking north of the Rio Grande. The group was comprised of migrants from Central America, Ecuador and Mexico.
On Saturday, Weslaco agents working near Pharr, Texas, apprehended a group of 140 migrants, including unaccompanied children, from El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Honduras.
And on Sunday, McAllen agents working in Hidalgo, Texas, arrested 136 migrants from Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Cuba.
The migrants are being detained and processed according to Customs and Border Protection protocol.
