Harlingen, Texas (KVEO)—Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol agents arrested a total of 14 undocumented immigrants during three smuggling attempts, according to a news release.
McAllen Border Patrol agents working near Sullivan City, stopped a gray Nissan sports utility vehicle that was going north towards U.S. Highway 83 on Saturday night.
As the agent approached the vehicle, he saw several individuals in the back seat attempting to hide.
Agents then determined all passengers were in the United States illegally, said the news release.
A loaded firearm was also found in the vehicle.
On Sunday morning, Brownsville agents saw a silver Dodge Caravan driving in an area known for human smuggling, according to the release.
Agents arrested five people after they saw them running north of the border fence and towards the van.
A vehicle stop of the van led to the arrest of the driver. All of the individuals were transported to the station for processing.
The third incident involved The Sullivan City Police Department (SCPD). Officers contacted the McAllen station and requested their assistance after they conducted a vehicle stop on a Ford Mustang that had five occupants.
Agents saw three of the individuals were undocumented immigrants. They were transported to the station for processing. SCPD took custody of the driver and a passenger.
