Bond reduction for former Border Patrol Agent denied

RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas – A judge has denied bond reduction for the former south Texas Border Patrol Agent that was accused of brutally killing four people.

Today, he was in court for his final hearing before going to trial for Capital Murder.

Juan David Ortiz is accused of killing four women and kidnapping another nearly a year ago. The survivor, Erica Peña, took the stand testifying about how she escaped.

Evidence in the case, as well as motions needed for the upcoming trial, were also discussed.

Although prosecutors say Ortiz confessed to the killings, he pled not guilty on four counts of Murder.

Ortiz is currently being held at the Webb County jail.
