PHARR, Texas – Dressed in biker gear, elementary students welcomed a group of local bikers as they rode their motorcycles into their school. The American Bikers Association donated over 300 backpacks filled with school supplies to students at Carmen Anaya Elementary in Pharr. It is part of their 6th annual Kickstand for Kid’s event.
Julia Cannon, member – American Bikers Association, “A couple years ago we got thank you notes from all the children and one of the young men said he had gotten a backpack that year. He said he still had his backpack from the year before so his little brother didn’t have it so he gave it to him. That’s what we want to do. We want to inspire people to give back with education. Some are not fortunate to be able to go get the supplies they need to be able to do this.”
The association buys a motorcycle every year, customizes it, then raffles it and uses all proceeds to buy school supplies and backpacks.
