ALAMO, Texas – With a population that is expected to reach 20,000 in the upcoming census, city of Alamo Mayor Diana Martinez says the city is growing and a recent roadway expansion is aiding that growth.
For the past 20 years Diana Martinez has had a role in the city’s government. Spending 12 years as commissioner and for the past 8 years as the city’s mayor. “I was born and raised here in this great city of Alamo. I’m proud to see the expansion of Alamo Road and it’s growth.” says the mayor.
Back in 2015, sitting on the Metropolitan Policy Organization committee, Martinez fought for the expansion of Alamo Road, a nearly $900,000 project. Martinez adds the expansion alleviates traffic and increases safety for drivers and is vital to the growth of Alamo.
“More business come into our community for the growth of our city. Our city has grown a lot in the past several years under our administration, so we see a lot of projects coming into our city.”
As mayor, Diana Martinez says she has overseen many projects in the city. Including drainage and sewer projects, as well as bringing in new businesses like a nursing home and an ER facility.
Martinez got into politics to address issues within the local government and says she is honored to serve the people of Alamo and proud of what she had done for her community. Martinez is now seeking a third and final term as mayor. She says she has many more plans for the future of Alamo and wants to see them through.
“Look at what I have done for our community. It’s not about us, it’s about our community. Bringing business into the community and working together with the commission.”
Mayor Martinez says in the near future the east side of the expressway will soon see an expansion of business coming to the region.
