BROWNSVILLE, Texas – Several people are taken into custody by federal police following a raid at a Brownsville meat market. Homeland Security Investigators and Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents could be seen going through files and carrying out boxes from the business in the 200 block of West St. Francis Street.
A spokesperson for Customs and Border Protection did not release much information. They said in a written statement that the raid was part of an ongoing financial criminal investigation. The building which houses the meat market is owned by a church next door.
The pastor tells Local 23 News he had no idea any type of criminal activity was going on at the meat market. The owner had been renting the space for the past 12 years.
