SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas – While some worry about cold and windy weather, hundreds are taking advantage of the strong winds for a good day with a kite
Friday marks the start of the 2020 Kite Festival in South Padre Island.
For the next two days, enthusiasts from around the world are meeting at the city’s convention center with the goal of introducing people of all ages to the world of kiting.
“Kite flying isn’t what you imagine. It’s not little kids running around with a small little delta or something like that. These are professional-level flyers. These are people that get together that hang out and fly and we’re here to put on a show,” said Nic O’Neill, kite flier.
The event will begin Saturday from 10 A.M. until 4 P.M.
Some kites may also be available on Sunday for freestyle flights.
