2,000 Mexican National Guard to help with migrant surge

The Mexican Government says the newly formed Mexican National Guard will come to the border. Their mission is to help curb the surge of migrants from Central America. About 2,000 soldiers make up the group which will be stationed from Matamoros to Nuevo Laredo along the border with Texas.

About 800 have already arrived in Reynosa. Currently 600 members are headed to Nuevo Laredo. About 500 National guard will arrive in Matamoros early next week. The troops will serve as a security force as tensions rise among migrants and the general population in those cities.
