The Office of the Starr County Attorney arrested a former soccer coach who also worked as an aide for Roma High School.

Aurelio Cervantes Jr. was arrested on suspicion of displaying harmful material to a minor.

Cervantes is accused of sending two nude photos to at least one minor, according to a complaint.

The case began when administrators and Roma Independent School District police initiated an investigation, according to Starr County Attorney Victor Canales.

“It was investigated by the 220th District Attorney’s Office, but a forensic search of phones and computers delayed the investigation” according to Canales.

The case was then turned over to the Starr County Attorney’s Office, which concluded the investigation on Wednesday.

Cervantes was arrested and incarcerated at the Starr County Jail.

The former instructional aide worked at Roma High School from Nov. 11, 2011 and resigned on Dec. 17, 2013, according to the district.

A bond had not been set as of Wednesday afternoon.
