Christmas can be a magical time of the year. But, for families with a child in the hospital, the holidays can be tough. All children should be able to experience the beauty of Christmas, no matter where they are. That’s why South Texas Health System Children’s is having its second annual “A Children’s Christmas” event.
South Texas Health System Children’s in Edinburg is celebrating the holiday with Santa, his elves, and Mrs. Clause. The festivities will take place in the main lobby. Guests and their children can enjoy free cookies and hot cocoa while chatting with Santa and Mrs. Clause.
Parents and children can also participate in fun activities with Santa and his elves, such as arts and crafts and stuffing stockings with candy. There will be a small parade in the hospital parking lot for the public and the patients who can’t leave their hospital rooms. The theme this year is “Santa’s Workshop,” so expect to see the hospital staff dressed as elves.
That’s not all. Guests can also enjoy performances by the Edinburg CISD elementary choirs.
If you’re unable to attend A Children’s Christmas but would like to share the spirit of the season, you can. Local organizations, businesses, and schools are welcome to donate new toys, which are given to patients.
“A Children’s Christmas” was created to share the holiday spirit with the entire community. It’s an opportunity that lets families take part in fun, free activities, take pictures with Santa, and meet the medical staff.
