A Valley family has been searching for Gilberto Esparza, who has been missing since Jan. 29.

Esparza, 23, left his family’s home around 7 a.m. that morning.

Gilberto’s brother, Pedro Esparza, told Action 4 News that he left in his 2001 Ford Taurus, with license plate #BHC0278.

Esparza said his brother, born in Mercedes, is a Texas A&M Kingsville student who has taken the semester off to look for a job and preach the Bible.

He said Gilberto preaches along McAllen roads and had just applied for a job with Green Mountain Energy Company in Edinburg.

The 23-year-old did not take any personal belongings with him when he left his home on the 29th.

He was last seen wearing an orange shirt with blue jeans and white tennis shoes.

Gilberto is described as being 6 ft and weighing 200 lbs.

Authorities have not found his car.

Anyone with information on his possible whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Department at 393-6100.
