Strong winds created sandstorms and wreaked havoc across the Rio Grande Valley and South Texas.

A cold front moved through the area in the morning hours of Monday, ushering in much drier air and windy conditions.

The National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning for Cameron, Hidalgo, Willacy, and Kenedy Counties as well as a High Wind Advisory for Brooks, Jim Hogg, Starr, and Zapata Counties.

Expect winds were sustained at 35-40 mph, with some gusts of 45-50 mph or greater possible.

Action 4 News viewer Rey Robles reported that the winds uprooted a tree at his home.

Another viewer reported that a sandstorm limited visibility on U.S. Highway 281 in Redgate, a Hidalgo County community north of Edinburg.

Strong winds created a sandtorm on Champan Ranch Road between Kingsville and Corpus Christi where a viewer reported cars had stopped and roof shingles were seen flying.
