A man was sentenced for severely beating a woman to the point where she was left “unrecognizable and unconscious” according to authorities.

Marco Antonio Valdez faces 10 years in prison for the beating.

In court, Valdez said that his victim deserved the injuries” she sustained at his home.

Valdez, 21-years-old at the time of the assault, pleaded guilty in February for the Aggravated Assault Family Violence with a Deadly Weapon charges.

Based on the severity of the victim’s injuries, Valdez’ hands are being considered the deadly weapon in this case.

The woman suffered the following injuries:

-Fractured orbital sockets
-Fractured jaw
-Fractured nasal bone
-Subdural hematoma/traumatic brain bleeding
-Bleeding in the abdominal area
-Lip lacerations

Based on the injuries from the beating, the 21-year-old needed reconstructive surgery.

In May 2012, a person visiting the home called police after they found the 21-year-old victim lying on the couch.

The victim claimed Valdez had a history of domestic violence, but it went unreported.
