Heavy rains moved into the Rio Grande Valley over the weekend bringing much needed moisture to the upper valley.

Thanks to some tropical moisture out of the southwestern Gulf of Mexico, thunderstorms developed both Saturday and Sunday afternoon in Northeast mexico and migrated northwest into Hidalgo County spreading north and west.

Eastern and Northern Hidalgo County saw the most rainfall Sunday with more than an inch and a half in some areas.

Drier conditions are expected for the forecast area until next weekend.
