Sunday saw much cooler temperatures and rain showers due to a cold front that swept through the valley Saturday night.

Rain showers began to move into the upper valley late Saturday afternoon bringing severe thunderstorms to parts of Starr County.

Overnight rain showers filled in across the entire valley.

Portions of western Cameron County saw as much as 2.5 inches of rain.

By Sunday afternoon the rain clouds began to part as drier air moved into the valley behind the cold front.

Temperatures won't stay cool for long.  Afternoon highs are expected to reach the mid 90's in the lower valley and the upper 90's in the upper valley by mid-week.
