A Harlingen father is out on bond amid a child abuse investigation where police said he went too far in disciplining his daughter.

Ignacio Almanza surrendered to police on an injury to a child charge on Saturday.

Investigators told Action 4 News that it all started with a Child Protective Services incident back in January.

According to police, Almanza’s 6-year-old daughter misbehaved at a local daycare prompting him to discipline her.

The girl allegedly returned the next day with belt marks and bruising to her legs and chest.

Paramedics took the girl to the Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen for evaluation.

Authorities later issued a warrant for injury to a child.

Almanza turned himself in Saturday where he was issued a $33,000 dollars in bonds.
