Edcouch-Elsa ISD administrators have confirmed parents of one of their high school students reported their daughter had an intimate relationship with a school employee.

Mariachi band Director Homero Gutierrez sent his letter of resignation once police notified the school to begin the investigation.

The Elsa Police Department reports that charges have not been filed against Gutierrez at this time saying they cannot yet comment on the case.

School district officials said they are leaving the investigation in the hands of the police since Gutierrez is no longer an employee.
