Police responded to a shooting a Harlingen home on Thursday night.

Authorities told Action 4 News that three men wearing bandanas drove up to a house on the 2200 block of Adrian Street.

The homeowner, who was out of town, had hired a security guard to watch the home.

When the suspects pulled up to the home, they took out guns and began shooting at the security guard.

The guard returned fire.

Police told Action 4 News that a babysitter was inside the home with five children.

No one inside the home was injured, but a bullet did ricochet into the roof.

The children’s ages range from 5 to 17 years of age.

The suspects fled the scene after the shootout. They were last seen driving away in a blue or green van.

The security guard believes he hit one of the suspects.

Action 4 News will provide more information as new details become known.
